The Office of Performance Analytics & Continuous Improvement (OPA&CI), performs and coordinates data analyses on the public assistance programs administered by the Department of Human Services (DHS).

The OPA&CI supports DHS in the evaluation of its programs and services and uses evidence-based findings to inform agency decisions, programming and planning to ensure DHS delivers the critical benefits, supports and services to its customers in an efficient, compassionate and supportive manner. DHS believes in continuous improvements, and uses data analytics to inform policies, evaluate access and impact, as well as make improvements in the delivery and administration of the programs.

Welcome to the RI Department of Human Services (RIDHS) Community Data Request Portal! Attached, please find the fillable PDF to submit your request to the DHS. This service provided by the agency is intended to help support transparency, while providing information that can assist the community in research efforts, in better understanding the scope and reach of the work done at DHS,  and in providing a better representation of the demographics of the state’s benefits programs locally, statewide, and nationally.

Submitting Your Request

You may use the External Data Request Form, or online form, to request data pertaining to the administration and general delivery of DHS programs and services. Please provide as much detail on your request as possible to ensure DHS can fully evaluate your request, determine availability of the data and provide an accurate and complete response to your request. Please know that DHS cannot provide any personally identifiable information (PII), confidential information nor protected personal health information (PHI). 

Once you submit your request electronically, you will receive a follow-up email confirming your request, clarifying any additional questions, and establishing a timeline for the research and return of publicly available data and supporting information. Please note that our intention is to fulfill your request within 30 days if possible. All data provided will be anonymous and only in a format that preserves and protects the privacy of individuals represented in a specific set of data.
