The Low Income Household Water Assistance Program, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), helps eligible households and families afford water or wastewater services.

Applicants who qualify for LIHWAP assistance will receive a one-time payment issued directly to the utility company. LIHWAP is available through September 30, 2023, or until funds are exhausted.

LIHWAP Grant Assistance: A grant is available for individuals and families. You may be eligible if you:

  • Need assistance paying your current water or wastewater bill
  • Have past-due bills for water or wastewater services
  • Received a notice indicating termination of water or wastewater services as part of a tax sale;
  • Have had your water service disconnected

Households can receive the LIHWAP grants for both drinking water and for wastewater services. Families must meet income requirements. Learn about eligibility for water and wastewater assistance and how to apply here.
